Posted by Jeff Welch In claiming to represent "the disability perspective" you make the same mistake as many others - claiming that YOUR perspective or your PERCEPTION of what the majority of a community thinks is actually representative of the whole, or the diversity within the whole. By claiming to represent "the disability perspective" on the Schiavo issue - or any other - you do the disability community a HUGE disservice in failing to acknowledge the diversity of thought that exists within our community. You cannot claim to represent "the disability perspective" any more than one African-American (or one caucasion) can claim to represent "the African-American perpective" or "the minority perspective". I caution you against making such eggregious, arrogant, and prejudicial claims in the future. ********************* Quoth Dave Reynolds in an e-mail sent to Inclusion Daily subscribers on 4/2/05: "The death Thursday of Terri Schiavo has touched countless people, each in different ways." "When I went on line Friday to gather articles related to her death, I discovered links to more than 10 million related web pages. From those, I selected just 52." "Of course, there is no way to cover all aspects of the various debates surrounding the end of her life." "I decided to focus specifically on the disability perspective today and have written just two summaries." ************* Regards, Jeff Welch
