Posted by Dave Reynolds Do you think people convicted of murder should face the same punishment regardless of their IQ scores or if mental health experts say they have mental retardation? Or do you think people considered to have mental retardation should be given a lesser sentence? What do you think about statements from many defense attorneys -- and others supporting these laws -- that adults labeled as having mental retardation are "functionally children" and therefore do not have, as Mr. McClain put it, "the same moral culpability (responsibility) of someone who is smart and kills"?
