Posted by Penny Strickland During my first meeting of that morning, I learned about the attack on the Pentegon. It was a DCC meeting for early intervention, and one of the ladies there had worked for the Pentegon in the past. She was very concerned about the daycare she had help to set up there. It was always believe that if a strike occurred, it would be in that area. Her fears were validated by another member of the DCC when she told her the location of the plane crash. I will never forget that day.

I was dropping my children off at school when I first heard about something striking the World Trade Center. My daughters aide was the first person to tell me about it. I jokingly said that it was probably something I had thrown while trying to get the girls dressed for school. I have three girls with cerebral palsy, and I had not had a good morning. It was not unusual for me to throw around equipment just to get to more equipment. It was after I returned to my van and started off to work that I realized the seriousness of the situation. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The radio announcers were the first to mention the word "terrorist." I was in shock.
