Unfortunately, the media does not repond often to the problem of crime and violence against people with disabilities. The rate of crime committed against people with disabilities is 4-10 times higher than the rate of crime against the general public. I work for the CA Crime Victims with Disabilities Initiative and we are working towards educating our communities about this problem and we are trying to improve our criminal justice system so that crime victims with disabilities can receive equal justice under the law.
