Let me just ramble a bit but what do I know?????Here are my thoughts and I don't know anything and am still a student!!!JDJ started with twelve to fourteen different dogs! That makes a gene pool thats huge in my book!!I had to Wake up to that fact! that Huge GENE Pool! is thereason why there is so much "variation in breedings" like nephew to aunt or neice to uncle!! Or Full brother to full sisiter!!!There shouldn't be any variation in those types of breedings! When you breed a full brother to full sister and get one half the litter with Bully heads and the other half with longer snouts you know you have some loose lines!Don't you think? Has anyone else done this that I don't know? There are not any breeders who have gone tight with the 100% Johnson blood besides myself and Tony Mancera and unless you go tight you will never know whats in the mix!JMO! With this huge gene pool, that makes room for quite a bit of diveresity! Its like hit and miss and a lot of luck involved in my opinion! I mean we have Johnson Blood thats loose as a goose and people are saying its inbred to death!! Thats a joke!No Offence thats just the exact way I think. Sorry if that offends anyone! Pure bred dogs real pure bred dogs have 100's of years in line breeding and inbreeding behind them not just 40 years!!! think about it!And most of our pure bred dogs don't have anywhere near 12 to 14 different dogs in the foundation mix! We have so much that we can do with the line breeding program that JDJ started. JDJ bred for pheno type ,JDJ had a vision of what He wanted a Bulldog to look like and then he bred in that direction ,its that simple ,many times JDJ would name a dog a Collette even if it didn't come from one of his Collettes! Or he would call a Sugar Doll a Sugar Doll even if it didn't come from a Sugar Doll! Why because he criss Crossed his lines! Its up to each 100% Johnson Breeder to decide what he wants his pheno type to look like and go for it. First looking at the Basics such as structure ,hips ,temperment ,with these dogs a breeder can create anything He wants! To have consistency you have to bred tight and bred consistent to get that. Unless you just want to ride on someone elses shirt tail. To me the best Bulldogs have not been bred yet the folks that have the guts to have a vision and line bred and inbred these dogs will be the ones who end up producing the next generation of Super Dawgs! JMO! JDJ had a vision and he set his sights on what he wanted and he went for it! If he lives another 100 years he will keep producing better and better dawgs! Peace: Mark @ Big Sky p.s. I did this in a rush tonight so please don't everyone storm jump me!!LOL!! I'm heading to church will check it out when I get back later!
--Previous Message-- : First off let me say I am not trying to start a bash someone thread. In that being : said I have only been in the breed about 5 yrs and only breeding about 1/2 that : time. I for my own personally knowledge would like to know everyone's view on JDJ : breeding practices. This and that has been said and I would really like to know the : truth. I haven't been around long enough to know it but I have been around in this : world long enough to know when something should have proof. I am really trying to : learn about the breed and before I make my mind up I would like to know all the : facts. I came to this board for the answer because I think my best chances of : getting are here. Thanks in advance. :
