Welcome James. You have certainly come to the right place to talk bulldog! The folks here are both knowledgeable and supportive. We have definitely learned a great deal in the past few months.

: Hello all!
: My name is James Davis. I'm pretty new to this breed.. I spent about 13 years with
: Akita's and then discovered American Bulldogs... I've been addicted since... My
: first AB I was told was from Johnson lines.... now I now that she did have a little
: bit of Johnson blood in her but the breeder seemed to be doing more
: "Hybrid" type breeding. When I went back to get another one, I was not at
: all happy with how his current dogs were looking and what he was producing.. I'm not
: an expert on AB's by any means... But I have my own vision of what "MY"
: perfect AB would look like... Reading Mr "J's" idea's and what he wanted
: to accomplish has made me rethink my idea's, but generally I was on the right track.
:
: My first question to you all is this:
: I have always had dogs of color... After reading the standard for AB's.. I came to
: terms that a mostly white dog is most desirable in Mr "J's" opinion. I
: don't personally think they are the BEST looking.... but when I did my research and
: learned about all the cross breed breeding with mastiffs and bull mastiffs and even
: Pit's and other dogs.. I learned to love the White's.
: But my pup has some serious Dandruff going on !! I have tried changing food and it
: does have an effect on it... I tried the Purina one that was given to me when I
: purchased the pup, but her skin was red on her belly and the dandruff flakes were
: pretty big and plentiful...
: then I tried "Wellness" Brand dog food for puppies... The guy at the feed
: store recommended it along with some other supplement called "The Missing
: Link" super supplement. All the supplement did was give her Diarrhea.. Even
: when I started off with low doses then worked up to the full amount. The wellnes bag
: is almost $40 bucks for a 30 lb bag.... not 40.. 30lbs.. Hella expensive.. but it
: worked good and cleared up her eczema type rashes an all her exposed skin on her
: underside.. I tried something a little cheaper... about half the price of Wellness
: and it contains no Wheat or Corn in it which I think might be causing her skin
: irritation.. It happened with a couple of my Akita's causing "Hotspots"..
:
: Anyways.. I'm just wondering if any of you have any suggestions.. The Purina
: definitely made her skin worse when I tried to go back... Wellness is the answer so
: far.. but it's so expensive.. I'll buy it if I half to..
: Her weight is good. She's nice and slim... I'll post some pics when I figure out
: how... She's not as Bully faced as I would like, but I didn't want her to drool as
: bad as my previous AB did, cause she is an indoor dog..
:
: This is a great website and I've been keeping up with you guys for a couple months
: now just listening to what everyone has to say...
