Hey Red I don't recall ever mentioning your name but I guess you took it that way. You said , if I recall, you think the old time breeders are so great at looking at and judging a dog that they are above using a scientific method to test there dogs for HD. You have to be joking right. I have learned a lot from these very wise breeders. But for some of them being wise they should know that scientific testing will only put them above everyone else with the rest of the knowledge they have. HD is NOT the only problem in this breed but as I said before if a dog can't walk well the rest doesn't really matter much then does it. I don't look down on anyone because I don't feel like I'm good enough of a human being to do that. That was a stupid comment coming from someone that just typed what they believe in and stand for as I do. Telling what you believe in isn't looking down on someone. If what I say bothers you than it must have hit home. I am not looking for a fight but I believe passionately in these dogs and will do whatever it takes to better them. When people say that PH testing isn't good or shouldn't be used, or doesn't help, and they think they know more about a dog just by looking at than they are decieving people. Aaron I have never spoke to you but I will tell you one dog I know of that has many gen of PH dogs behind her and throws it in her pups. I really hate using someone else's dog but it is one of the best repersentations of what I said. Rebecca of Big Sky, currently at Mitchell has about 3-4 gen of PH dogs in her background and to my knowledge has never thrown a dysplastic pup. To my knowledge now that I think about it Aaron has Zech ever thrown a dysplatic pup. I don't think he has. IT has been proven in other breeds that PH testing is removing the possibility of HD in those dogs. It probably will never be completely gone but if we come down from being in like the top 20 most dysplastic breed to being let's say half as much better, than that's awesome if you ask me. All of you have to be human enough to admit it would break your heart to see that happen to one of your dogs that one of your kids just adored now wouldn't you. Well what if it was virtually wiped out. It just might not happen anymore. It blows my mind how people can argue against this when the proof is right there. A friend of mine keeps telling me I always believe too much that theres good in everyone and that they just couldn't be doing it because of the money. Well I'm starting to believe him which blows my mind because in the end we are breeding, selling, and making money off of a living creature which should be given the oppurtunity to have everything done to insure a healthy life. Anyone that argues that should get out of the business. What if you went to the docter to have a health test done because you wanted to catch something early and the docter told you that, ah hell man you look good to me and I have been doing this for 60 yrs and I know healthy when I look at it. Doesn't that sound stupid. People are going to make there own minds up no matter what you do I see that now. So the time for trying to open people's eyes is over for me. I will do what i know helps this breed and in the end the people getting dogs will know the right route to take in getting one. Hey by the way thinks Aaron for this being the way we met or at least first talked. Once again my intentions were never meant to offend anyone just to be truely honorable but since you fired at me I will fire back. I guess sometimes it's best to agree to disagree. I mean it's not like I'm trying to say that shooting yourself in the head is the best way to die hear. I'm trying to show people what I think is the best way to breed dogs. That come after much reading, studying, and talking to breeders who do it both way. Even some that have been around for 20 yrs longer than most of all of us put together. Some of them , even with all there knowledge admit that no matter how long you've been in it there's no better way to prove the quality of there breeding stock than doing scientific testing. I am listening to the truely wise breeders, IMO, and they have been around as long as anybody else.
