you hated tommy? interesting.. didnt like any of it? i agree theres tons and tons of mind-numbing filler but some of the tracks are just dandy..
anyway, the sound is MUCH more developed than tommy, so id say its closer to who's next. its without a doubt the best who album, without any comparison from another studio album (live at isle of wight though.. whooo... man..)
oh and its way better than the wall. the wall was once my favorite album ever, but please take a step back and realize that, despite however PERFECTLY-designed it is, it REALLY doesnt cut it musically. john raves about sides 1 and 2 and puts down 3 and 4, but i really dont find most of the album interesting anymore, save a few tracks (even comfortably numb sounds comfortably bland.. no offense). anyway, you should definitely get quad.
