You prompted me to throw on Gravediggaz by this post, and damn it all - I'm glad you did. I hadn't heard it in a while, so it's nice re-listening experience. Most people bark on end about Dre's producing skills, but I personally think that the bare essence of rap is personified in most everything RZA has ever laid hands on (I say 'almost' because let's not forget 8 Diagrams -- though, that's not intended to suggest that the album's bad, though. Far from it, just more complex than his usual style). I don't know -- I think RZA usually comes off with solid beats on his own, and needs not rely on heavy sampling, unlike Dre who pretty much can devote almost his entire professional producing career to George Clinton. Thoughts, anyone?
