Oh man, from one overrated series (GTA) to another.
Truth be told, I like the first Halo -- it was a well done console FPS (probably the best FPS controls for a console game ever), and the storyline was semi-compelling, meaning that it does a good job of keeping your attention invested to the details of the story, yadda yadda yadda. Only problem is that it gets old, quick. I got it when it first came out, and I had a grand old time playing the shit out of it, but after I had beaten it, all I had to rely on was the multiplayer, which to be honest, wasn't all that great (even if I was good at it). Overall, back then I would've given it an A; now it'd be in the mid B to B+ range.
Halo 2 is basically just Halo 1 with the option to dual-wield your guns. The story line leaves more questions than answers, and they're questions you really didn't care about knowing the answers to anyway. The multiplayer was "who gives a shit?" and the gameplay got old quick.
Halo 3 -- same nonsense as the 2nd, which in itself was a shallow recreation of the first one anyway, and the multiplayer was even dumber. By this time it reaches its apex and draws in crowds ranging from the douchebag DnD nerd "sophisticates" to ultra white trash inbred hicks with grease-stained camo overalls and a serious overbite. A wide spectrum of gamers who can't really decipher a good game from a bad one, which is mainly the reason why this series is still thriving. It needs to die off quick and allow some breathing room for games with real potential creativity to flourish.
That's just my opinion on it, though.
