I remember my first semester in college... a bright and budding student, fresh from the proverbial teat of high school. My grades in high school were poor, but I thought to myself, "this is different now -- it's college! A more responsible atmosphere; time to grow up and make something of myself." And I was right -- it is a different atmosphere, in the fact that you have no protective walls. Sheesh, I can't even tell you how much class I skipped that semester, just because I knew I hypothetically could.
I'm not advocating it, but trust me -- you're young and on your own for the time being. You'll have school responsibilities but you're gonna be just as reckless and crazy in college as you were in high school. Actually, you'll probably be more reckless and crazy, given the climate. Just don't do what I did, though -- horrible way to start your college career; though it was fun at the time.
