a 12 might be a little on the high side but that would hardly be all that surprising of a rating. It's short, and the music works well separated from the movie, I certainly have no issues with it. It's as good as any subdued proto-ambient soundscape-based record ever was.
My honest prediction is that Zaireeka is the one that gets the surprising rating. People usually have radical opinions on that one. Not me though, since it's the only Lips album I've never actually heard before (I've heard isolated B-side versions of some of it's tracks before though).
I wonder what the band is planning on doing with the new material they've been working on this year. So far this year they've put out that "Two Blobs ####ing" iPhone thing which was pretty cool, a 20 minute collaboration EP with Neon Indian which was OK but sounded like the band wrote and recorded it in a matter of days, and they've got some gummy-skull-USB EP thing coming out soon. Will they compile this stuff into an album at some point or is this all we're going to get?
