I find that kind of ironic, considering. He used to be so dead set against them. In fact, the original Wall Tour was done, partly, as a statement against those types of shows. I wonder what changed his mind.

: I kind of agree with Roger Water but the shear
: audacity to do that in a rock concert is
: hilarious.
:
: I remember when seeing Radiohead live and
: Thom Yorke playing Exit music and it was
: just him and the acoustic guitar at the
: beginning and a fan starts screaming out
: "yeah" and "woo" etc. I
: was pretty pissed off that they were
: spoiling it for me and so I do sympathize
: with Roger Waters there.
:
: However in the back of my head, I was
: thinking, well this is a rock concert and
: not classical music, so I shouldn't be all
: hard arse and be such a party pooper about
: it.
:
: Rock concert is about having a good time and
: an interaction between audience and
: performer, classical music is about the
: crowd being silent and absorbing the music
: and not disturbing the performers on stage.
: I mean if this was the Rolling Stones, no
: one would care about crowd shouting out
: during a song and letting off firework.
:
: I guess art rock and prog rock bands
: especially a band like Pink Floyd that has
: mainstream success there would probably be
: tensions between the proper 'etiquette' for
: their concert. I mean shouting out during a
: song is pretty much a standard thing in a
: rock concert but pure prog rock and art rock
: fans won't appreciate it.

: Apparently, Roger Waters said this to rowdy
: concert-goers when he was trying to sing
: "Pigs on the Wing" on that tour:
:
: «Oh... for f***'s sakes, stop letting off
: fireworks and shouting and screaming, I'm
: trying to sing a song! I mean I don't care,
: if you don't want to hear it, you know...
: f*** it. I'm sure there are a lot of people
: here who do want to hear it. Why don't you
: just be quiet? You want to let your
: fireworks off go outside and let them off
: out there. And if you want to shout and
: scream and holler go do it out there, but
: I'm trying to sing a song that some people
: want to listen to it. I want to listen to
: it.»
:
: I remember hearing this on YouTube, and in
: the comments people were complaining how
: Roger was being rude. I disagree, though.
: Roger was right. You don't go to a concert
: to act like an idiot. You can have fun and
: whatnot (that's the point), but you're also
: there to hear the music, so you should have
: respect for the artist. If I were a
: performer, I sure would've blow a fuse.
