most of his tones are just reiterations of the guitar tone in 'run like hell' by floyd, if not an exact replica.
i don't mind pretentiousness in music, but in bono's case it just sours any chance the band had at making me like one of their songs. he's pretentious to the point of snobbish, and it doesn't help that for all of his soap box confessionals about helping the poor, and preaching about the diabolical nature of greed, he owns a private jet, lives in a multi-million dollar mansion and is more than likely chauffeured everywhere he goes in a nice, cozy limousine. he's the full embodiment of a twat.
