as if it was recorded in a hurry
if you want quirky catchy stuff, check out solo Barrett - "Barrett" and "The Madcap Laughs" - for a man on the edge or already over it, they sound pretty solidly realised

: My first Pink Floyd album I've listen to was
: Dark Side Of The moon and I was down right
: bored with the album and that put me off
: pink floyd for ages (although now I think it
: is great but it took a while for it to grow
: on me).
:
: However when listening to Pipers for the
: first time, I just found it immediately
: accessible and I liked it immediately. The
: album was certainly quirky but I never got
: how people go on about how weird it was as I
: just find Syd barrett to be such a gifted
: catchy melody maker.
:
: I have to say though that I was a huge blur
: and Graham coxon solo career fan at that
: time and there's a lot of Syd Barrett in the
: way they write meldodies. The quirky catchy
: but twisted pop melodies they write really
: translated pretty easily for me to get into
: Pipers very quickly.
:
: I was one of those Pink Floyd sucks after
: Syd Barrett left the band for quite some
: time.

: "Piper" has been sadly overtaken
: (in
: my esteem) by The Pretty Things' S.F. Sorrow
: (better arranged psyche with better
: melodies)
:
: i do adore solo Barrett, though, perhaps
: even more than "Piper"

: i never hear anybody except for those who
: have
: really sat down and gone through pf's
: catalog mention piper, or animals. it's
: always the same 3: dsotm, wish you were here
: and the wall, and none of their albums come
: close to those two, in my humble opinion.
