Honestly I find Kind of Blue to be a terrible starting point for getting into jazz. It's not a bad record at all but contrary to what many people say, I don't find it to be a record that will convert people into jazz fans. I personally started with A Love Supreme and Mingus Ah Um so I definitely recommend picking those up. I'd also recommend Jaco Pastorius's first album if you're into the bass.
