This will be the request thread.
I probably divide my request into categories
1) More Female Artist
The female gender is probably grossly under-represented in the review page (probably Tina from Talking Heads who gets a lead vocal line out of the entire page from the top of my head). Although this is kind of partly rectified in the itinerary with Renaissance, Abba, Kate Bush and Jefferson Airplane.
Surely there must be more female artist or groups with lead female vocalist/songwriters that is worth a 1/5 or above in the rating. maybe some patti smith, Janis Joplin, Blondie, Bjork or even PJ Harvey (I love her work although I have a suspicion that it isn't within John's cup of tea, Tori Amos etc.
You should review more of them even if you dislike some of those artist.
This leads to point 2
2) Bands/artist with a 0 or negative band rating.
I think George claim before that it's important to review not just bands you love but bands you dislike.
A question soon arise that if think these bands are great, why do you think these bands suck even though they are in the same genre of bands you like.
By pointing out how these bands fail in comparison to bands that succeed, this will add a more balance to the site and may even increase appreciation to the bands that you do rate highly.
I think you have a strong dislike to Kansas and I think a detailed review page on them would be quite interesting to read. after all you can't just declare a band sucks without some detailed explanation why.
Also your comment "This is a guy that can inspire dangerous reactions in people." is kind of inaccurate when you don't have a page where you heavily criticised their entire discography. Come on you got to earn the "controversial" status by reviewing a band you don’t like. You need another troll page to complement your Rush reviews (even then 2 star bands is actually a pretty good band)
4) The mythical 0 rating album
Just because the review of that mythical album seems very entertaining
There’s a chance that Electronic Sounds may get that rating but considering that John avoided the avant-garde Lennon albums. It’s quite possible that he may skip that album as well. I
Which leads to my next point
5) Ringo Starr and complete the discography gaps by reviewing the avant-garde Lennon albums
Come on you can't be considered a hardcore Beatles fan without reviewing all the solo albums of each member of the Beatles especially when there is a Ringo album that has songs written by all members of The Beatles.
Also I still haven’t seen a review of the avant-garde Lennon albums. If you ever want to one-up on George Starostin on the non-existent rivalry between you two, review Two Virgins. Even he avoided that album which means you get to review a Beatles related album that George hasn’t touched yet.
Be a completist to the Beatles
6) Some Australasian artist
Mainly because I’m an Aussie myself and I would like some bands from my own country and also our Kiwi cousins.
I wouldn’t mind some AC/DC, Midnight Oil , Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds (honesty, out of all the bands you haven’t reviewed yet, I wish they are the ones that get the five star rating the most). Maybe some New Zealanders as well with the likes of Split Enz, Crowded House.
7) Keyboard (and their variant) pop/rock music
Sure you have groups like Van Der Graaf Generators with their organ taking a lead role as well as a few prog rock/art rock groups where the keyboard plays the large part of their sounds.
However what about keyboard based (which includes organ, piano etc) pop rock such as Elton john, Left Banke, the Zombies or even Ben Folds Five. I know Sparks is in your itinerary that’s largely keyboard based but more groups like that. Hell you could even go to the synth pop groups (although i’m not too fond of that but if there is a synth pop group you like, well that would be an interesting group to listen to)
8)Miscellaneous famous albums review
A possible miscellaneous page where you just tackle the famous albums of bands you don’t really want to review their entire discography.
9) A Token artist from the 2000’s or 2010’s
We get that you are a classic rock fan and therefore have a bias towards 60’s/70’s rock. However there are a few token bands from the 80’s and 90’s. However currently zero token artist from the 00’s. Come on is the decade so bad that there isn’t a single group originating from the entire decade that wouldn’t generate at least a 1 star rating. Modern Rock may be dying but it isn’t completely dead yet.
Also considering that your itinerary would probably be complete after a decade or so, that also gives you plenty of time to find one artist from this decade to review as well.
10) Bands I like and therefore you should review it. My fan entitlement category of request
I already mention Nick Cave, Midnight oil, Split Enz, Crowded House and PJ Harvey.
.
I would love a Blur (don’t forget Graham coxon solo career), Smiths, The Cure, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch nails page. I’m pretty curious about your opinions of Oasis and coldplay, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, gorillaz as well
