It was available at my local library, so I gave it a shot. Afterwards, I always disliked the original mixes, because I could never get used to them; the strings and such really detract.

: I agree that The Long and Winding Road is
: better when stripped down, but I still don't
: like it much for some reason. It's one of
: the very few late-period Beatles tracks that
: actively dislike. I also think the original
: Let it Be is better, but it's never really
: been a favorite of mine, relative to what's
: around it in their catalog, at least.

: If Paul had put the full 6 minute version of
: "You Know My Name, Look Up The
: Number" on there, I might have
: considered getting it. As it is, I already
: have the Anthology CDs that has the piano
: only version of "The Long and Winding
: Road"*, so I see no point in getting
: it.
:
: *And yes, that one is the better version.
: The arrangements in the Let It Be version
: make a sappy tune more sappier than it needs
: to be.

: It's fine; I'd probably give it a D rating.
: I
: prefer the original.
:
: I'd feel silly giving it a review, honestly.
: I might someday, though.
