Fortunately, most of Company L did eventually get through the German defenses and into Lindern that night to back up those of us from Company K and one platoon of Company I who were dug in beyond the railroad. Had it not been for Company L, and a handful of tanks that also got through, it is doubtful if any of us would have made it out of there other than as POWs. Thanks for "reporting in" and for reading "Dear Captain, et al." and "War's Wake."
