The 84th Division roster lists Loren D. Branch of Morganton, North Carolina as a member of Medical Detachment, 334th Infantry. He served in all three of the division's campaigns (Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe). Medics from medical detachments were assigned to various company units. These were either long-term assignments or for short periods depending upon circumstances. Therefore, he may have worked with the same company throughout or in different units during the Division's six months of combat. So he may be remembered by someone in a company in which he served as well as by fellow medics in the Medical Detachment
