After the war, my dad returned home and returned to his job as a seafood worker for my uncles business. He had about 100 employees to manage and supervise. He had 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. My dad was almost 40 when he was drafted, making him a lot older than a lot of his buddies in his outfit. He never told any of us about being a soldier until about 5 years before his death. I still have a pair of wooden shoes he brought from Holland, and a picture from France. I truly wish I had had sense enough back then to jot down some notes. He died in 1976, at the age of 70. His only reply to me about World War II and his activities was " it wasnt the real me".
