Sergeant Peter A. McCombs was a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 333rd Infantry. The roster listing notes that he was from Bonne Terre, Missouri, served in all three of the 84th Division's campaigns (Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe) and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. There is no reference to a Purple Heart Medal but if he was wounded in combat this could have been omitted through error.
