Posted by noel rabbetts As this is the 70th anniversary year of his commission into the British Army and the fact that, at last, the UK have designated a Veterans Day (27th June), I would like to compile some records for him as we plan a special lunch at which I need to give an address. So, if there are any Veterans still alive and who can recall my father, I would love to hear from them be it good or bad! Noel Rabbetts

I wounder if there are any veterans of 1944-1945 who can remember at Britsh Officer from Royal Engineers who was attached to the Railsplitters. His name is Bertram (Dick) Rabbetts and he would have been a Captain then. He is still alive to this day and will celebrate his 93rd birthday in October. The only information I can give was that he was involved in the crossing of the Scheldt and the Rhine at Wessel then onwards through to Magdeburg (or close to). 71
