Posted by John O'Malley on October 13, 2006, 5:20 pm, in reply to "looking for info on 333rd, my uncle Jack Graves" My SOP was to check with the buergermeisterin each village every morning, and make a preliminary investigation of any complaints which may have had. My jeep driver was Jack, a skilled driver and a pleasant chap, as well. I believe that he became a member of the Washington State Highway Patrol following the war, and I am sorry to learn that he has passed away. John O'Malley, A-333.

I was a member of Co. A, 333; and remember Jack very well. He was one of A Company's jeep drivers, the other being Fred Carter. As the war was winding down in April 1945 and Company A was on the Elbe River, with the Russians on the other side, I became German interpreter to my battalion commander, LTC Norman Carnes, who assigned me the responsibilty of making a daily patrol through each of the four villages in our battalion area and report back to him any information involving misbehavior of American or Soviet troops.
