Hi Evelyn,
Thank you for leaving a post on the Co. K message board. I actually was looking for your father about 3 years ago. There were 32 John/Johnny Jones listed in Ky, so I did not find your father. I was hoping to get info on what your father did in Co. M and any of his stories. My father had quite a rough war experince - as they all did in different ways.
Can you email me a photo of your father? I do not have your father listed on the roster for the Company photo taken at Camp Claiborne just before they left for Europe/the war. The 84th did not fight in Southern France like your father did, so I am guessing he was a replacement that joined the 84th. Do you know what unit he was in before joining Co. M?
I know that I have some photos of some of the Co. "M" Jones, but I do not recall your father being one of them. The good news is that my father (S/Sgt John "Jack" V. Miller, Jr.) was a forward observer for the mortars and a squad leader for the mortars. I have photos from another veteran of the mortars as well. Hopefully there will be a photo somewhere. I have probably found 2,000 photos from Co. M in WWII and I have only found 5 that had my father in them.
Please tell your father that my father and I said, "Hello!"
All my best, John
