Posted by Allan Wilford Howerton on January 25, 2007, 10:57 am, in reply to "84TH DIVISION, 335TH REGIMENT COMPANY C" The 335th Infantry roster of officers does not contain a listing for Hugh G. Paucell. The division history, "The 84th Infantry Division in the Battle of Germany" by Lt. Theodore Draper indicates that the 335th Service Company was commanded throughout the war by Captain Cecil R. Searcy. If Paucell was assigned to either the Service Company or Company C after hostilities, his name would not appear in the roster. The Draper history lists Captain William B. Wood (hometown, Hillsboro, Texas per the roster) as the third and last commanding officer of C-335. The current issue of The Railsplitter, the 84th Division newsletter, lists a William Wood of Texas (address not indicated) of C-335 as having attended the 2006 division reunion in Nashville. I am sending additional information via e-mail.

As the post by Mark Miller notes, Pfc Raymond R. Starr of Ft.Madison, Iowa is listed in the Service Company section of the 84th Division roster. This would indicate that at the time the roster was prepared after the end of hostilities, he had been reassigned from Company C. The reassignment was most likely in relation to his work as a musician with the Crackerjack Esquires as you indicated.
