Discharge papers typically reflect the unit to which the soldier was assigned at the time of discharge, not necessarily the unit in which he served during the war. Or, as previously indicated, his name could have been omitted from the Cannon-334 roster through error. Suggest you request available information about his military service records from the St. Louis, Missouri facility of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) per the link below. Approximately 80% of World War II personnel records were destroyed by fire in 1973 but suggest a check anyway in case his records survived or some valuable scrap of information may be found. Also, NARA may be able to check Morning Report records (most survived the fire) of Cannon Company, 335th Infantry to determine when he entered the company and from what unit.
