Sgt. Amos H. Wooten of Pontotoc, Mississippi was a member of Company C, First Battalion, 335th Infantry. He served in the Rhineland and Ardennes campaigns but not in the Central Europe campaign. He would have seen action in November, 1944 just north of Aachen, Germany and in the so-called Geilenkirchen salient wherein the division seized and held the area around Lindern, Germany which paved the way for the crossing of the Roer River and the drive to the Rhine. In December, 1944 and January, 1945 he would have fought with the division to halt the German drive to the Meuse River on the far northwest flank of the Battle of the Bulge (vicinity of Marche-en-Femenne, Belgium) and the subsequent Allied counterattack to drive the German Army back into Germany from the Ardennes area of Belgium.
