He was from Harrisonburg, Virginia, served during all three of the division's campaigns (Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe) and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. The Hiatt listing notes his rank as Major and that he was the Regimental S-3 (operations) officer. He was from Swayzee, Indiana, served in all three of the division's campaigns, and was awarded a Silver Star Medal, a Bronze Star Medal with one cluster, and a Purple Heart. The division history, "The 84th Infantry Division in the Battle of Germany" by Lt. Theodore Draper, notes that Hiatt also served as Company Commander, Company G, 334th Infantry and Commander, Second Battalion, 334th Infantry.

Charles C. Baker and Charles E. Hiatt are listed in the 334th Infantry, officers section, of the 84th Division roster. Harold Hilstroem is not listed. 230
