Per the 84th Division roster, Staff Sergeant Floyd Carter (no middle initial noted) of Memphis, Tennessee was a member of Company I, Third Battalion, 335th Infantry. He served during all three of the Division's campaigns (Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe). The day-to-day story of the 335th's Third Battalion (Companies I, K, L, and M) is told in my memoir, "Dear Captain, et al.: the Agonies and the Ecstasies of War and Memory."
