I have always believed tha it would be a great shame to the Society to simply disappear forever, especially at a time when its treasury shows a net balance of $111,835.00.
Dissolution would not be easy. If the Society is simply dissolved, the first question presented is how Society funds would be dissipated. (In that regard a scholarship fund might be set up; but tht's easier said than done.)
Second, time is of the essence. The 2009 reunion could be our last. We have no time to lose, so I suggest that we move forward at the 2008 reunion with a motion to appoint a committee to continue the Society, and nominate interested Associates to positions on the Board of Directors.
The number of directors need not be large; but the successor Society ought to limit membership to living Division veterans or direct descendants of those who are
listed in our 1945 Divsion Roster.
The committee should be authorized to enlist the services of competent legal counsel to draft its charter and control its funding.
