It would be a great shame to see the Railsplitter Society dissolved. With a treasury balance of @111,835.00, as long as there is a modicum of interest by our sons and daughters in continuing the Society, it should continue. .
The suggestion that if there is a dissoltion, the funds can be transferred to a scholarship fund would be easier said than done. Its maintenance would require professional assistnce.
Time is of the essence. Our 2009 reunion my be our last. So I suggest that at the 2008 reunion a committee be appointed with authority to obtain professional assistance to draft articles of incorporation for the successor Railsplitter Society, limiting its membership to both veterans, or direct descendants of veterans, listed in the 1945 Division Roster.
An article for the next issue of The Railsplitter should be cleared with Forrest Lothrop without delay so that his views as well as any objections or supporting statements can be heard at the 2008 reunion
