Per the 84th Division roster, Pfc. George A. Preston of East Point, Idaho was a member Company M, Third Battalion, 335th Infantry. He served in all three of the Division's campaigns (Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe).
Company M was the heavy weapons unit for the Third Battalion (heavy mortars and 105 mm cannon). The company worked closely with the line infantry companies (I, K, and L) of the battalion during various operations. As such your father may have been associated with Company K but he appears to have been assigned to Company M.
