The 84th Division roster lists S/Sgt. John M. Hogg of Venus, Texas as a member of Battery B, 325th Field Artillery Battalion. He served during all of the division's campaigns (Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe).
About eighty percent of the personnel records (201 files) of World War II veterans were destroyed in a fire at the St. Louis facility (National Personnel Records Center) of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in 1973. Suggest you query NARA in case his records may have survived. For information click on the link below.
Morning report records for his unit will most likely note the day-to-day locales of Battery B and the 325th and may record the date and locale of your father's entry, his rank at the time and subsequent promotions. These daily reports are on microfilm at the NARA St. Louis facility. Most, or all, of them survived the fire.
