Allan,
Would you be kind enough to send me a scanned copy or photocopy of the "K" section of the roster? Once I've confirmed that the helmet came from the 84th, I'll order a complete copy of the divisional history. I woudl really appreciate that. The problem is that I've already bought two histories, without success, and I'm dreading another "whif" at this one. Maybe we could talk. My number is (918) 271-1267.
I posted this on its own because I wanted to add a little info. The helmet I'm talking about was purchased in Belgium from a family that had kept it since WW2. It has a hole through the top of the pot and liner with a date written in pencil...January 27, 1945. The guy obviously survived, and I have the first initial of his last name and last four digits of his SN. With this and the 84th Division roster, I'm set. Why do I think it was the 84th? The helmet HAD a net on it, the traces of it visible in the paint on the helmet. This type of net was used VERY frequently by the 84th ID as well as the 87th ID. Just thought you might be interested.
Regards,
Brian
