Raymond M. Clark of Los Angeles, California was assigned to Company K, 335th Infantry as a replacement on March 6, 1945. At that time the company, having just completed the drive from the Roer to the Rhine rivers, was in defensive positions at Baerl, Germany, on the West Bank of the Rhine. He served as a rifleman through the remainder of the war during the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He was promoted from Private to Private First Class April 13, 1945
Company K crossed the Rhine River on April 1, 1945, made an attack in small boars across the Weser River in the early morning hours of April 6 and fought a major battle at Eisbergen on April 7. From there the company proceeded across Germany and fought its last battle at Restorf-Pevestorf on April 23 finishing on the Elbe River, 45 kilometers from Berlin at the end of the war. Pfc. Clark was not wounded or otherwise evacuated during this period. After V-E Day the company was part of the Army of Occupation in the general vicinity of Heidelberg, Germany until returning to the US for demobilization in January 1946.
