For information about replacement of military medals go to: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/replacement-medals.html About 80% of WW II military records were destroyed in a fire at the National Personnel Records Center at St. Louis in 1973. Suggest request his records anyway in case they may have survived. Reference link below.
