After -action reports are on file with 84th Infantry Division records at the Suitland, Maryland facility of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). To learn how to obtain copies of these records go to a NARA web site and find the page(s) for the Washington, DC area, Suitland. There you will find information as to how to contact NARA to inquire about availability and procedures.
The records are monthly reports by regiment or other units. You may also find reports of after-combat interviews relative to that period of time plus a variety of other material. Daily morning reports by company units are on microfiche at NARA’s National Records Center at St. Louis, Missouri.
I was at Devantave and Ourthe and present throughout the 84th’s involvement in the Ardennes Campaign. The story is told from the standpoint of Company K-335 and the 335th Infantry in my memoir “Dear Captain, et al.: the Agonies and the Ecstasies of War and Memory.” If you have specific questions I would be glad to try and answer them here or via E-mail.
