Harold Henry Casper is not listed in the roster of any 335th Infantry unit. This could be due to an error of omission or he may have served with some other unit and been reassigned to the 84th Division, 335th Infantry after the war in Europe ended on May 8, 1945. If an omission (unlikely, but possible) it could have occurred because 335th personnel records were destroyed in a battle action near the end of hostilities and had to be reconstructed.
The division rosters were compiled shortly after hostilities ceased and listed only soldiers who served during combat in Europe. If he were reassigned to the division after that time his name would not be in the roster. This is the most likely possibility because many soldiers with sufficient points of service for discharge were reassigned to the 84th in the fall of 1945 from units staying in the Army of Occupation after the 84th departed in January 1946.
What is the source of information that he was in the 335th Infantry? What other information do you have about his service? For example, bases where he trained in the United States, locales where he fought in Europe, letters, or other information which might provide a clue to his unit.
Suggest check with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) at the link below in case his records may be among the 20% of WW II personnel records that survived a fire at the National Records Center in St. Louis in 1973.
