The 84th. Division roster list S/Sgt. Irvin J. Rogers as a member of Company E, 2nd. Battalion. 335th Infantry. His hometown is listed as Sumter, South Carolina. The roster notes that he served in the Division's Rhineland and Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) campaigns, was awarded Silver Star and Purple Heart medals, and was killed in action on December 25, 1944.
The after-action report of the 335th Infantry for December 1944 indicates that on December 25 the regiment’s 2nd. Battalion was engaged in “static defense” in the general vicinity of Marche-en-Femenne, Belgium.
