Per the 84th Infantry Division roster listing, Francis R. Hulet of Wendell, Idaho was a member of the RECONNAISSANCE TROOP MECHANIZED. He served during the Rhineland, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) and Central Europe campaihns; i.e. throughout the division's period of combat. In the roster his rank is listed as Corporal, which would indicate that he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant after hostilities ceased as the roster was compiled as of that time.
Three men of the troop were killed in action (KIA) and three were reported missing in action (MIA) during the 84th Division's period of combat (November 1944 -- May 1946).
Thank you for your inquiry.
