Thank you so much for your quick response. I have done some digging the past few days and uncovered some additional information. I read some of Theodore Draper's account of the 84th's mission through Germany. I felt pretty sure that given the date that dad was reported missing, he must have been in the Lindern/Beeck region at the time, but your contribution confirms that. I'm wondering if there are maps that show the troop movement through that area on the 29th and where his platoon actually was at the time they encountered resistance. He said he recalls your name. I'm going to see him next week and he has a couple photos he is going to give me. I did some research on the National Archives site and learned that he was at Stalag 11B, work camp 59-03, which was located at Fallingbostel, Prussia. I would love to continue our conversation and share with you any details I can gather from further conversation with my dad. You have my email address, so feel free to contact me there. Thanks for your help, and have a very blessed Christmas.
All the best,
Doug Payne121
