You are correct in that the Morning Report records would most likely provide the information you are seeking. (He was probably not wounded at the Elbe River as the roster listing does not note service during the Central Europe campaign).
Morning Report records are on microfiche at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) facility at St. Louis, Missouri. They are not, to my knowledge, searchable online.
