Per the 84th Infantry Division roster, Pfc Francis J. Welch of Syracuse, New York was a member of Company K, Third Battalion, 334th Infantry. He served during the Rhineland Campaign and was reported MIA (Missing in Action) November 21, 1944.
At this time the Third Battalion was engaged in offensive action in the vicinity of Prummern/Suggerath, Northeast of Geilenkirchen, in the so-called Geilenkirchen Triangle section of the Siegfried Line.
