Hi Michael,
I found your father's Silver Star certificate:
Second Lieutenant MILTON R STARR 02010869 (then Sergeant), Infantry, 335th Infantry, United States Army. For gallantry in action against the enemy in Germany, 29 November 1944. While attempting to establish conact with a company from which his platoon had become separated during a heavy enemy barrage, Second Lieutenant Starr, together with another soldier, encountered two tanks whose advance was being held up by fire from hostile automatic weapons which the tanks were unable to silence due to the positions occupied by the guns. Securing several hand grenades, Second Lieutenant Starr, with complete disregard for his safety, followed the tanks through the area and destroyed three enemy gun positions, killing four Germans, wounding one and taking three prisoners. The conspicuous courage, aggressive spirit and exemplary action displayed by Second Lieutenant Starr reflect high credit upon himself and the armed forces of the United States. Entered military service from Texas.
George T. Sanders (KIA) was the other soldier refered to in the SS certificate.
Sorry, I need to get to bed as I get up early for work. I will do more searching for additional info tomorrow.
