Posted by Jim Lowry CC: Richard Tanner First allow me to state, Marathon is not Key West, Stuart, Ft. Myers or Sarasota. Marathon is unique unto itself. It is understood the Marathon City Marina is looking to do the following; 1) Mooring Ball. All Inclusive = Dingy dockage, Showers & Parking one vehicle. An increase from $170.00 to $250.00 This is should be a non-starter for the following reasons; a) Many disabled boaters are unable to use the As they are unable to use the dinghy dockage to dock their dinghy, they should not be required to pay for dockage. As this will be discrimination until as such time that dinghy dockage is available for the disabled boater as outlined under the DOJ/ADA guidelines and regulations. b) Many boaters do not use the city marina’s dinghy dockage. They use Dockside for access to the city. And they take their laundry to the Laundromat while shopping and they take showers on their boat. For the above reasons it will be unfair to include dinghy dockage in the mooring ball fees. 2) Dinghy Dockage for vessels at anchor; All Inclusive = Showers & Parking one vehicle. Increasing the fee from $70.00 to $100.00 (approximately 42%) is unacceptable. In order to use the showers or other additional services (Parking, Storage, Water, Ice, etc) you must have already paid for dinghy dockage in the first place. There is no added benefit for this proposed increase (approximately 42%) in fee. -------------------

dinghy dockage. All they do is pickup and drop off. They do not tie-up and dock.
c) Many cruisers only use the mooring ball in order to take a break from their cruising for a day and do not go to shore.
For those of you would want to be involved in the Harbor, PLEASE ATTEND the upcoming Marina Workshops.
