The following letter was sent to:
Mayor Worthington, Vice-Mayor Bull, Council Members, and City Manager of Marathon,
I stood before you and told you what would and was going to happen...
The Keynoter is quoted as saying
"Geotis said by doing a rebid for the project, the city will establish a "firmer scope of work."
"We're going to add into the plans some [Americans with Disabilities Act] compliance things we picked up from [ADAAG Consulting Services] and we're changing the specifications on the doors to the bathroom," he said. A
keyless card system, which wasn't in the original bid, will be used.
Councilman Mike Cinque took issue with how the city was negotiating the contract.
"When we bid something and try and do takeouts, it scares them off; we shouldn't do that. Make sure what we bid is what we want and not go in and negotiate at the table," Cinque said. "
I (Jim Lowry) told you this was going to happen... You don't go changing the specifications after you get bids, you do so before you send it out for bids.
But it appears NO ONE listened. And your Deputy City Manager SHOULD HAVE known better.
Geotis should have done it right to begin with. This just shows more of his incompetence.
