Dogs - big or small - are pretty much OK at any of the marinas, local bars, the local home depot, and many other local stores. Everything in Marathon is Safe. Occasional petty theft. Essentially if you're not looking for trouble you won't find it. Quiet is a relative thing. The busier the marina the more "dock commotion" you're going to have around you. Some marinas have dockside bars and entertainment many days of the week, so pick what you like.
