Just received this today from another site. Interesting:
"I have just finished talking to a researcher just back from Cuba yesterday. He went there on a research grant with a US Treasury License.
A few points for US Yachtsmen. The US has no ambassador level mission in Cuba. It does have a Special Interest Section office out of the Swiss
Embassy.
This office is staffed with a US Coast Guard Officer, the present one being the third to hold the post. He walks the docks in Havana and is in
a position to report US yachts that are in port.
There are numerous daily charter flights into and out of Miami/Havana.
The USCG is not overly interested in whether US people visit Cuba. But, you can get in real trouble with the Treasury Department. In any event, you can be charged with lying to a Federal Officer, where as refusing to answer a question is not in of itself a chargeable offense. Remember
the 5th amendment!"
