Thanks for your response. Your right, it might be the wrong type of question. And I may take a vacation and come see what it is all about. I love the Keys and Florida. And I admire people that can live life on their own terms.... unconventionally, it takes a set of brass ones....whether its on a boat or a cabin in the woods.
Thanks again.

: Someone might respond, but I think that's a
: bit too complex with a myriad of answers to
: address on a bulletin board. Why don't you
: take a short vacation and come to Marathon
: and just meet some people. Hang out at the
: Brass Monkey Bar (no tourists usually) and
: just ask around. Lots of the people that
: hang out there live on boats, and for lots
: of different reasons. Just remember that
: choosing to live on a boat is generally NOT
: because it's a low class necessity - usually
: it's a definite choice because the people
: that do it prefer that lifestyle to living
: ashore on concrete slabs. I'm living in a
: house right now (will be back on the boat
: shortly), but for me it's both the
: independence in every respect, and also the
: constant motion of the boat, even at anchor
: or in a slip - my wife likes that part too.
: and if we don't like the neighborhood we can
: always move. Plus when we do want to explore
: and cruise our house goes with us so it's
: very comfortable.
: Regards - Greg

: I have been enjoying your message board for
: a
: year now. I live in Iowa...not alot of
: ocean frontage here. Can someone tell me
: how they came to "live off the
: hook"? or is it on the Hook?? Are there
: many jobs available? How about sailing
: lessons? I have more questions ...
: Thanks...have a great day.
